Windows XP cannot find USB Stick

Although XP is able to find the USB memory device in Hardware Device Manager, it fails to display in My Computer due to a duplicate drive letter assigned to another device or network drive.

Solution: Change the drive letter of the USB device

Right click on "My Computer"
Left click "Manage"
In Computer Management (Local), single click on "Disk Management" under "Storage"
You should be able to find the "Removable Device" here
Right click on it and click"Change Drive Letter and Paths"

Click on "Change" and choose a drive letter that is not being used by another device or network drive.

Click OK to confirm
You will get a warning message saying "you are about to change the network device path and the device might not work after you change it" etc
Just click OK to confirm again

Your USB device will now appear in "My Computer"
